The Holistic Centre is a happy, holistic kind of haven in a beautiful village on the shores of Lake Atitlán. It has been running successfully for more than 12 years and it was (and is still) one of the first of its kind in Central America, receiving travellers from all over the world. It has excellent write-ups in all the main travel guides and has a great reputation for high quality holistic health care and teaching.

Hotel Unicornio
Hotel Unicornio was the first backpackers hotel in San Marcos. It has been established since 1993 and with constant great reviews in Lonely Planet and other guides it is as popular today as ever. It has about ten simple bungalows set in lush gardens and sleeps over 20 people. There are shared bathroom facilities, a sauna and a communal kitchen and guests often stay for months on end, cooking together and forming travellers’ families, a home away from home.
The Hotel Unicornio also includes a large house in the grounds where you can live.

San Marcos La Laguna
San Marcos has a lot to offer if you are looking to make a change and live in a great climate, with a healthy, alternative lifestyle surrounded by nature and a stunning lake. San Marcos is famed for its holistic healers, artists, musicians, organic gardeners and its alternative education options. It has an international community and different languages can be heard on the little winding, paved streets of the village at any time of the day, Spanish, Caqchiquel, French, English, German, to name but a few. This international community blends with a local indigenous community of Mayan Caqchiquels of about 2000.
