First Annual Festival of Consciousness
March 20th, 21st and 22nd
San Marcos La Laguna, Lago Atitlán
The intent of the First Annual Festival of Consciousness is to bring people from all over Guatemala and the international community together to explore consciousness in the areas of health, education, the environment and sustainable living.

There are two aspects to the festival: the first is a central area in which individuals, organizations and private businesses will have the opportunity to display, present, demonstrate and sell their products. If you are interested in reserving a sales space, please email Katherine kjbird@yahoo.com for details.
The second part of the festival consists of sixty to ninety minute workshops in various locations around town. The idea of the festival is to experience and learn how to apply consciousness to all areas of life—a sort of taste tester. Workshops topics include: yoga, Capoeira, meditation, whole foods, creative body movement, waking up without coffee, Emotional Freedom Technique, Amanae, healing with plants, tortilla making, natural dyes, mural painting, living a green life, grey water systems, super-adobe construction, Henna body paint and many more enlightening topics!
If you are interested in running a workshop, email Katherine kjbird@yahoo.com as soon as possible as the schedule is filling up. We are hoping to have about 40 workshops running throughout the weekend!

If you are on a tight budget, there is a possibility of sleeping on the floor in a municipal building for a minimal fee. Please let us know as soon as possible if you would prefer this option so we can make the appropriate arrangements.
San Marcos La Laguna is approximately:
- 3½ hours by bus from Guate and Antigua
(via 148km through Santa Clara or to Pana and then take a boat)
- 1½ hours from Xela
- 45 minute boat ride from Panajachel
-10 minutes from San Pedro by boat
-10 minutes from San Pablo by tuk tuk
Public busses from the cities run early and usually the last ones heading toward San Marcos leave around 4pm.
Boats run from Pana starting at 6:30am and last boat leaves at 7:30pm.
Boats from San Pedro run every half hour starting at 6am. The last boat back to San Pedro is the 7:30 boat from Pana.
Private boats can be arranged to take people back to San Pedro after the benefit party.
Again, if there is enough interest, we are looking at arranging private busses from Guatemala City and from Xela on Friday night and then returning on Sunday afternoon.
